The theory and social movement of Degrowth argues that it is necessary, and desirable, to radically decrease the material and energetic throughput of the economy. In addition, it argues that, in order to address the current crises, we must dismantle the hegemony of growth.
In this Deeper Inquiry session, Andrea Vetter and Aaron Vansintjan will discuss how degrowth can relate to our organizing and social movements, and what kind of collective path can lead to a just transformation.
The conversation will be based on the book they’ve co-written, “The Future is Degrowth: A Guide to a World beyond Capitalism”, to be released with Verso Books in June 2022.

Aaron Vansintjan is a writer, researcher and editor at Uneven Earth. He recently completed a PhD at Birkbeck, University of London on green gentrification.

Andrea Vetter is a transformation researcher, activist and journalist, using and experimenting with the tools of degrowth, the commons and critical eco-feminism.
