Fliplanthropy S02E01: Decolonizing Wealth – Organising Liberated Futures Fliplanthropy

Exposing how colonial legacies and entrenched narratives shape who holds power, whose knowledge is valued, and who gets to define “progress”

What does it truly mean to move beyond fighting oppressive systems and start building the world we want to live in free from shackles of the past?

In this season premiere, join Mohammed Elnaiem from The Decolonial Centre as we challenge the very foundations of philanthropy and social change. We’ll expose how colonial legacies and entrenched narratives (& blindspots) continue to shape who holds power, whose knowledge is valued, and who gets to define “progress.”

This session is not just about critique; it’s a call to funder action. We will explore practical strategies for dismantling these deep-rooted structures to foster genuine community power, self-determination, and collective liberation. Tune in to move beyond opposition and start organising our liberated futures.

Join us to learn how to build, not only fight.

About our speaker

Mohammed is an activist living in the UK who aspires to live up to the expectations of the Black Radical tradition. He is the founding director of the Decolonial Centre, a political education platform that spreads the ideas of anti-colonialism. His biggest intellectual inspiration is C.L.R James, and he sees himself as part of the socialist, anti-colonial tradition. He has been part of Guerrilla’s Activist Council for two years now. He made the horrible mistake of trying to write a PhD thesis on the relationship between capitalism, colonialism and patriarchy. He still hasn’t finished writing it.
